Our Board of Directors and Executive Team:
Dr. Jason and Heidi Clopton: The Cloptons own the Centers for Development in Cookeville. Jason is a pediatric optometrist and Heidi is a pediatric occupational therapist. Their practice specializes in developmental and pediatric therapies and reflects their passion for helping children with special needs. Heidi, along with Becky Davidson, oversees the LISTEN Support Group for mothers of children with special needs. Heidi also teaches and leads our children's lessons and activities during our services. Jason and Heidi help make sure our programs and activities are modified and adapted in the most suitable way for individuals with special needs. The Cloptons have three daughters.
Jeff and Becky Davidson: Jeff is a Cookeville minister who is also active in Structured Athletics for Challenged Children. He is our lead speaker and coordinates, plans, and directs our monthly services. Jeff also writes and publishes our complimentary email devotional, Elevate. Becky has been active in leading special needs children's ministries in churches and together with Heidi Clopton oversees the LISTEN Support group and our Mom's Lunch Bunch. Becky also leads our Mom's Bible Study for mothers of children with special needs. Becky and Jeff coordinate our special events, family outings, and other social activities. The Davidsons are the proud and blessed parents of Jon Alex, their own son with special needs, through whose life God birthed the idea, dream and vision of Rising Above. Jeff and Becky are both available for speaking engagements and can be booked through Rising Above.
Howand and Audrey Westerlund: The Westerlunds are both in the medical care profession. Howard also serves on the Board of Directors of the Fleetguard Credit Union. Howard and Audrey have a tender and passionate calling to minister to families of individuals with special needs. They have been part of Rising Above from its inception and assist and partner in every aspect of Rising Above.
Rising Above relies on some amazing friends who volunteer their time, talents, and gifts in helping with this ministry. We especially thank our founding families who have served along side from the beginning: Joe and Judy Vaughn, John and Amanda Brantley, and Mike and Darlene Thiessen. We also thank Jeffery Burnsides (Director of Multimedia and Internet Operations), Lori Chatman (Children's Worship Director), Jim Florea (Director of Stage and Sound) and all the others who God has sent our way to bless this ministry. We also thank all the various churches, organizations, and praise and worship leaders who help us in so many ways.
